My Take on Sleep Coaching

Thanks for taking the time to get an idea of what my approach entails.

As a pediatric sleep consultant it is my job to help babies and toddlers get healthier sleep by introducing and maintaining healthy sleep habits and working on strong foundations.

I do want to say I do not practice the '“cry it out” method. However, babies do cry because they have to communicate in some method and not all crying is bad! At the end of the day, I want to have a plan that you, as the parent/caregiver, are comfortable with and trust. If you don’t feel comfortable, please let me know, and we will change our plan of action!

The Nitty Gritty

  • I will treat your child like an individual instead of throwing a “one size fits all” approach at them. I can promise we will see progress. I will be with you every step of the way.

  • My job is to give parents/caregivers the knowledge, tools, and confidence they need to continue teaching their child better sleep habits even when we are done working together. Sleep is a journey and the tools we will work on together will be invaluable as your child grows.

  • WE have to communicate and come up with a plan you are comfortable with. Sometimes we have to be pushed slightly outside our comfort zone to meet our goals but I will never ask you to do something that I would not do with my own child. Your child’s safety always comes first.

  • I cannot promise 100% no crying but we will do our best to eliminate as much crying as possible (no cry it out method here folks!)

  • In the beginning, as much consistency as possible will be crucial for us to meet your goals and more! But after goals are met, I will encourage you to follow the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time we stick to the script, 20% we let you live your life!

  • Lastly, I will not abandon you if at the end of our time together, we do not see any results, I will stick with you to work towards those goals. One of the most important goals I have, is to make parents feel less alone. We are in this together.

If you want more of the details:

What I will do is listen to your perspective and really get to know you and your baby. I will help you work on healthy sleep habits from the start.

I want to come from a place of supporting physical health as well as mental health. Mental health is something I have personally dealt with and I will show empathy if you feel the need to open up about anything mental health related. I can simply listen if that is what you need.

This process is about you and your family. I will guide you but you ultimately hold most of the power. We both have to be committed and we have to communicate clearly to ensure you are comfortable with the plan. You are the parent, you know your child best, so if you are not comfortable we need to change the plan to better fit your family’s needs. I follow the 80/20 rule, 80% of the time we stick to the script but 20% of the time you have to live your lives!

Thanks for taking the time to read about my approach and I look forward to working with you!
